Spring sports’ first scrimmages this week

Spring sports practices are now underway at Lord Botetourt and James River High Schools, with the first scrimmages scheduled for this week and opening games the week of March 13.


Both baseball teams will be in action this weekend, with LB participating in a Saturday Jamboree at Staunton River High School and James River scrimmaging at Alleghany at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The James River softball team will scrimmage at Cave Spring on Saturday, while LB has a scrimmage at Brookville on Monday, March 6.

In soccer, Lord Botetourt will be participating in the Cave Spring Jamboree this Saturday at Bogle Stadium in Roanoke County. LB will scrimmage Salem at 10:40 a.m., then take on host Cave Spring in the last match of the day at 2:40 p.m. James River has a scrimmage this Thursday, March 2, at Staunton River at 5:30 p.m.

The LB girls will scrimmage at Cave Spring this Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. and the River girls have a home scrimmage at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Lord Botetourt tennis teams will scrimmage Salem on March 9, with the boys at home and the girls at Salem.
