Buchanan postpones council meeting; new well set to go online, higher water pressure could affect some homes.
Buchanan Town Council put its new inclement weather policy into effect by postponing Monday night’s March meeting until next week, Monday, March 20 at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.
There were some announcements town officials wanted to make, though, about the new water well, Town Cleanup Day and The Gauntlet Business Competition.
Town Manager Mary Zirkle said the new water tank at Well 2 is almost ready to go into service for the north side of town (First through Fourth Streets and Fairview to Main).
When that happens, some people may experience higher pressure. The town is required to provide a minimum pressure, not a maximum.
Zirkle said if water pressure goes over 80 pounds (PSI), the town can work with the property owner to have a pressure reducing valve (PRV) installed. If they choose to have one installed, they would then be responsible for its care and maintenance.
Residents only can take part in Town Cleanup Day on Saturday, March 25 from 8 a.m.-1 p,m, at the Town Parking Lot at the boat launch. The same rules apply as past events.
Zirkle also noted that participants in The Gauntlet Business Competition will be touring Buchanan on March 25.
The town has also scheduled its annual Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, April 7 at 11 a.m. on Town Park.
