Ready for a clean sweep – members of the cast of “Broadway Showcase” pose for a group photo, in preparation for the musical variety event set for Saturday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Radford’s Central United Methodist Church, 803 Wadsworth St. It is a showcase for students, faculty and staff of Central Fine Arts Academy, associated with the church. Shown are (top) Lillee Hurst, (second row, from left) Lauren Holdaway and Katherine Woinski; front row (from left) Lydia Pratt, Emil Bunn and Summer Fisher, featured in “It’s a Hard Knock Life” from “Annie.”

A collection of hits from past and present Broadway shows are featured in the first-ever musical showcase by faculty, staff and students of Radford’s Central Fine Arts Academy, affiliated with Central United Methodist Church.

The one-time event is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, April 8 in the CUMC Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $5.

Performers will sing and play such favorites as “I Got Rhythm” from Gershwin’s “Girl Crazy”; Annie’s “It’s a Hard Knock Life”; music from “Oklahoma” and “Phantom of the Opera”; the ragtime tune “The Entertainer” and “Just You Wait” from “My Fair Lady.” You’ll also hear “On Broadway” from a 1990’s rock musical “Smokey Joe’s Café,” and “Give My Regards to Broadway” from George M. Cohen’s “Little Johnny Jones.”

Emcee for the evening is Mike Cline.

Tickets are available from the CFAA faculty and students, from the office at CUMC (639-3529) and at the door.
