It will be a battle of Rivers tonight if they don’t overflow. With mid-week rain in the forecast, James River is scheduled to play at Staunton River Wednesday night in Moneta.
The Knights can use a win after dropping to 5-9 with shutout losses to Glenvar and Auburn in the past week. Last week at Glenvar the Knights dropped a 4-0 decision despite a complete game pitching effort by Landen Horton, who allowed just one earned run.
On Monday at home against Auburn the Knights lost 9-0 as the Eagles jumped on starting pitcher Coulter Hodges for five runs in the first three innings. Andrew Harless relieved for an inning and a third and Dalton Harper pitched the last three.
Offensively, Harless had a single and a double for River while Andrew Bridges and Luke Harman also have hits.
The Knights have a busy week this week. Tonight’s game at Staunton River was supposed to be their third in as many nights, following Monday’s game with Auburn, but a trip to Floyd on Tuesday was postponed until May 17. On Friday, the Knights will return the trip to Auburn.
