River’s Brown medalist, Buffaloes still win golf match by a stroke

James River’s Tyler Brown was the medalist, but the Floyd County golf team edged the Knights by one stroke in Monday’s match at Great Oaks.

River had a strong one-two bunch with the Tylers, as Brown shot 82 and Tyler Lester carded 84. The Knights shot 356 as a team and were nipped by the Buffaloes, 355-356 for team honors.

The James River varsity is now off until next Tuesday when they take on Radford and Alleghany at the River Course. River will host Parry McCluer at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club next Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The jayvees were scheduled to play at the BG&SC on Tuesday against Floyd and Patrick Henry.
