From left, Georgia Weiman (policeman), Nancy Lawrence (Opal), Micah Crizer (Brad ) and James Honaker (Soloman) rehearse for Attic Productions’ play “Everybody Loves Opal” that opens October 5.

John Patrick’s comedy “Everybody Loves Opal” is coming to the Layman Auditorium stage at Attic Productions’ D. Geraldine Lawson Performing Arts Center for two weekends in October.

James Honaker is directing the play that runs Thursdays-Saturdays, Oct. 5-7 and 12-14.

Everybody just loves Opal, with her unfailing kindness and abiding faith in the goodness of human nature in the comedy. However, her new “friends” just can’t manage to bump her off for a big insurance payoff. The question is will these new friends realize what a jewel they’ve found in Opal and the true riches in her dilapidated mansion at the edge of the dump?

The cast includes Nancy Lawrence as Opal, James Honaker as Soloman, Micah Crizer as Brad, Kerry Plank as Gloria, Georgia Weiman as the officer, and Greg Spickard as the doctor.

Evening performances start at 7:30 each day with Saturday matinees at 2:30.

All adult tickets are $12, with a reduced rate for those 18 years and under and for groups of 10 or more at $10.

For reservations, call the Attic Productions box office at 473-1001.         Volunteers are staffing the office on Mondays and Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The community theatre is located at 7490 Roanoke Road, Fincastle.
