Tizzone charity wine dinner will benefit Botetourt Food Pantry
Tizzone Woodfire Kitchen and Wine Bar is holding a charity wine dinner Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. when a portion of proceeds will go to the Botetourt Food Pantry.
The Bistro Frontera Spanish charity wine dinner features a five-course meal with wine pairings, ratings, education and fun with each course.

Va. Gentlemen 48th annual show Saturday
The Virginia Gentlemen, Roanoke’s premiere a cappella chorus, invites residents and visitors to its 48th annual show at the Northside High School Auditorium on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2:30 p.m.
The performance, “Then & Now…Now & Then…A Story in Barbershop Harmony,” features guest performers Route 1, the 2016 Mid-Atlantic District Quartet Champion and the Virginia Gentlemen. Route 1 is an a cappella quartet with members from Laurel, Md., Northeast Philly, Hershey, and Etters, Pa. County artists in Roanoke show
Three Botetourt artists—Helen Hubler, Carol Frye and Patricia Herron— are participating in the League of Roanoke Artists and The Adult Care Center of the Roanoke Valley in theleague’s first Open Door Art Show and Sale.
The indoor weekend-long sale and show of fine local art is Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 4 and 5.
This is a unique opportunity for art patrons and the community to view and invest in fine local art, and meet the artists, in a protected, comfortable, no pressure indoor setting at the Adult Care Center of the Roanoke Valley. The center is a non-profit daycare center providing safe and skilled care for adults since 1985.
The League of Roanoke Artists is the valley’s largest and growing independent art organization, established in 1958. Art of all media, including visual arts, sculpture, jewelry, and fiber arts are represented.
The show is from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days at the Adult Care Center of the Roanoke Valley, 2321 Roanoke Boulevard, Salem. Parking is excellent and free.

Family History Month events at Fincastle Library
The Fincastle Library will host genealogy classes at 3 p.m. on the following dates:
- Nov. 1 – A visit to the Botetourt Courthouse and Museum with Tommy Moore and Weldon Martin.
- Nov. 8 – Holdings at other libraries and paid subscriptions; Virginia Room: Nathan Flinchum; Bedford County Museum, Doug Cooper.

- Kids Color Wars, Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. Kids should come dressed in white clothes they don’t mind getting dirty since it will be a messy. Arrive early to decorate cupcakes before the war begins.
- Kids Lego Club meets Mondays at 2:45 a.m.
- Storytime on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. with stories, songs and interactive story boards.

Fire Safety Day Nov. 18 at Eagle Rock Library
Eagle Rock Library is holding Fire Safety Day, Saturday, Nov. 18 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Eagle Rock Fire Department will be onsite to teach about fire safety. Visitors can meet the Eagle Rock firefighters and learn about the gear they must wear and see a fire truck up close.
There will be crafts for the kids, including making a fireman’s uniform, and signups to receive a free smoke detector installed in your home.
Everyone who attends will be entered into a toy fire truck giveaway and a school backpack giveaway.

- Friends of the Buchanan Library – Friends will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. in the Buchanan Library at 19795 Main Street.
- Buchanan Special Events Committee Meeting – Be part of the planning of upcoming Christmas activities including Festival of Trees, open house, tree lighting, parade and luminaries during the committee’s next planning meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall.
Fincastle Library’s Jingle Bell Jamboree
The Fincastle Friends of the Library are seeking vendors for their first annual Jingle Bell Jamboree.
The Jamboree will feature local artists and craftsman displaying and selling their works. The event takes place on Friday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m.-5p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9-1. Setup will be Thursday, Nov. 30 from 5-9 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.
A donation of $10is requested for a 5’x6’ space with a table. The sale benefits the library’s children’s programs, including the Summer Reading Program.

Program on ‘Grains’ at Buchanan Library
Master Food Volunteer Becky Allen will present a program on “Grains” at the Buchanan Library at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9. She will discuss the importance of whole grains in the daily diet and the part that they play in the My Plate food chart. Becky will also be preparing easy, quick recipes using whole grains for everyone to sample. The “Grains” program is sponsored by the Friends of the Buchanan Library. Friends of the Eagle Rock Library is seeking vendors for a Craft Fair that will be held at the library Saturday, Nov. 18. Vendor spots are $10. To reserve a spot or for more information, call 928-2800.

Cookbooks, sponsored by Friends of the Eagle Rock Library, are now available. “Hometown Favorites” are $10 and may be obtained at the library.
Fincastle Library Craft Class Nov. 17
Adults are invited to the Fincastle Library for a free fall make-and-take craft on Friday, Nov. 17. The class will be taught by Branch Librarian Rhonda Bandy from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
YMCA holding Breakfast with Santa December 2
The Botetourt Family YMCA is hosting Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 8-10 a.m. at the Greenfield Education and Training Center.
Families are invited to come to this special holiday celebration. The event will include a continental-style breakfast, two keepsake photos from photographer Kevin Hurley and a visit from Santa Claus.
The cost is $25 for adults and $12.50 for children. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Botetourt Family YMCA.
