Martin has PBs in 50, 100; LB girls 11th in 25-team meet in Christiansburg; both in pools again today
The James River swim team opened the swim season with a meet at Hollins University last week and swept William Fleming and Northside.
In the combined scores, River beat Fleming, 193-45, and Northside, 155-111. In the men’s competition River won 83-24 over Fleming and 68-58 over Northside, and in the women’s meet the Knights beat the Colonels, 110-21, and outswam Northside, 87-53.
Luke Martin swam personal bests in the 50 free, with a time of 25.28, and 100 free, with 56.54. Caleb Meador improved 33.5 seconds from his 500 free from last season.
“I’m excited to see the improvements from last season and look forward to seeing how the team grows and improves this year,” said coach Ashley Pratt.
Lord Botetourt opened last week with an appearance in the Southwest Virginia High School Invitational at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. The huge meet included 25 schools and the LB women finished 11th. The Blacksburg women and Albemarle men were team winners.
This week LB will swim against Roanoke Catholic at the Kirk Y in Roanoke on Wednesday and at Rockbridge County on Friday.
James River will swim against Glenvar on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Gator Aquatic Center next to Virginia Western Community College.
