The Lord Botetourt girls remained undefeated with a win over Class 5 Franklin County last week. The Cavaliers took a 70-46 win in Rocky Mount.
LB jumped out to a quick lead, outscoring the Eagles 28-12 in the first quarter. The Cavaliers were never threatened thereafter as they shot 51 percent for the game.
“We shot well and came out fast,” said coach Chuck Pound. “We played a more consistent game.”
Brookyln Shelton led the Cavaliers with 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and six steals. Janna Alam had 17 points, five assists and six steals and Miette Veldman had a dozen points, five boards, four dimes and five steals. Everyone on the team played double figure minutes.
The girls will put a 5-0 record on the line tonight when they travel to Abingdon, then they’re off until the Knights Winter Classic tournament at Cave Spring, which begins December 28.
“Abingdon will be a very tough game,” said Pound. “They’re a good team and that’s a long trip, then the Christmas tournament also gives us some top notch competition.”
