Troutville Baptist Church is sponsoring a Civilian Response to an Active Shooter Event (CRASE) Saturday, April 14 from 9-11 a.m. at the church on Lee Highway in Troutville.
The public is invited for what is described as a “plainspoken presentation (that) will prepare you for what is becoming an all too common occurrence in our country.’
The presentation—“Avoid-Deny-Defend”— will be done by Chief Craig S. Harris of the Virginia Western Campus Police Department in association with Texas State University.
“Acts of violence can happen anywhere at any time; you must be prepared to deal with them,” the announcement about the program says.
The public community-training event will last two hours with a question and answer session.
Those attending must be at least 16 years old.
