The Gordon family was at their normal fishing hole Saturday morning waiting for the start of Heritage Trout Day. The Bedford County family has made it a tradition to gather on the bank of Jennings Creek the first Saturday of April, and the threat of bad weather this past Saturday was not a deterrent. In fact, Tandy Gordon Stanley, son Tanner and friend Gary Routh had the family’s spot staked about at 6 a.m. Patriarch and matriarch Paul and Cheryl Gordon showed up later with son Drew Gordon and his wife Susan and their 4-year-old son Lane Gordon who was on his first Heritage Day trip. Lane made the most it, too. He caught his first trout ever on his first cast. Dozens of others also took advantage of the “opening day” atmosphere to fish for the 2,400 pounds oftrout that were stocked the day before.
