The Lord Botetourt baseball team will have three games, all on the road, this week as the Cavaliers look to make a late season surge on the diamond.
Botetourt was scheduled to play Franklin County in a non-district game in Rocky Mount on Tuesday. Patrick Kepler was scheduled to start on the mound in that one.
Today the Cavs are at Rockbridge, with Nick Lancaster scheduled to get the start. Then on Friday, LB is at Staunton River for a 5 p.m. game with Hunter Duke getting the starting nod.
The Cavaliers come into the week at 2-2 in the district and 8-4 overall after dropping a 2-1 game to William Byrd in Vinton last Thursday. Botetourt took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on doubles by Kepler and Logan Wood, but Byrd answered with two in the bottom of the inning and that was all the scoring.
Duke was the tough-luck loser on the mound, allowing just four hits and no walks over his four-inning stint. Jared Arnholt pitched the last two innings and allowed three hits and no runs.
Caleb Franklin had two hits to lead the LB attack. Kepler, Wood and Rock Thomas all had doubles.
