Paving operations at the I-81 Exit 150 interchange began this week and that will require night time ramp and lane closures, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced.

On Thursday, May 10, I-81 northbound Exit 150B and the roundabout will be closed to allow paving of the roundabout.

The exit will be closed at 10 p.m. and will reopen at 6 a.m. the Friday morning.

Traffic will be detoured through Gateway Crossing where possible, with flaggers and message boards in place to direct traffic in alternate directions. Interstate travelers are encouraged to use exit 146 on I-81 northbound for access to the area.

In addition, milling and paving operations will continue on the project for the next two weeks, through May 24, weather permitting.  Alternating lane closures will be in place during nighttime hours, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, on north and southbound US 220 and north and southbound US 11.

Signage and message boards will continue to alert drivers of traffic changes in the area.
