The Cave Spring boys and Christiansburg girls came out on top in the Region 3D track meet at Staunton River High School last week. Lord Botetourt’s girls were fourth and the boys were fifth.
The LB girls had two runner-up relay teams. The 4×400 was second in 4:25.12 with Lauren Duff, Greysan Palmer, Kaitlyn Mosdell and Brielle Jackson and the 4×800 was second in 10:39.7 with Mosdell, Jackson, Brooklyn Hornback and Claire Seibel.
Lauren Duff and Sofia Hernandez placed in two events each. Duff was third in the 400 and fourth in the 200 while Hernandez was third in the 3200 and fourth in the 1600.
For the boys, Jeremiah Mayo was second in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. Bryson Cook was third in the 800, Connor Hayes was third in the 1600 and Jack McNutt took fourth in the discus.
These athletes will all advance to the state meet this weekend at Harrisonburg High School, along with Nicholas Francis who had previously qualified in the discus by reaching the state standard.
