The James River girls were fourth and the boys were fifth as Radford swept the Region 2C track meet at Amherst County High School last week.
Erin Walker was a double winner for River, taking the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She also ran on the winning 4×100 relay team with Katelyn Wiley, Susan Schulz and Vanessa Lima.
Schulz was also a region champion, winning the high jump. Susan also took fourth in the 400.
Katelyn Wiley was second in both the 100 and 300 hurdles, while sister Kerri took a third in the 400-meter dash. Avery Word also scored with a sixth in the shot put.
In the boys meet, Ian Hester won the 300 hurdles and took fourth in the 100. He also ran on the fourth place 4×100 relay team with Chase Perkey, Michael Hays and Isaac Worsley.
Will Fowler was second in both the 800 and 1600 and Cole Miller was fifth in the 3200. The 4×800 team was second with Camden Powell, Jack Voight, Luke Peay and Jacob Alderson.
In the shot put event, River took fourth with Logan Williamson and fifth with Levi Walker.
The top four in each event advance to this weekend’s state meet at East Rockingham High School.
