Faye Hambrick, Liz Provost and Brenda Elliott met at Buchanan Presbyterian Church to plan the Friday, June 15 bake sale to raise funds for the Rise Against Hunger (formerly STOP Hunger Now!) supplies needed to create food bags for the 12,000+ people. They are seeking baked goods of all kinds from the community for the bake sale— cookies, brownies, muffins, fudge or other kinds of candies may be placed in baggies before hand. Rolls, bread, coffee cakes, pies and cakes may be wrapped in clear wrap so that they may be seen by customers. Buchanan Presbyterian Church is sponsoring the bake sale to from 8 a.m.-12 noon in front of the Buchanan Town Hall. All proceeds will be used to fund the Rise Against Hunger food packing event that will be held Saturday, Aug. 12 from 10 a.m.-12 noon at the Buchanan Fire House. Buchanan Presbyterian Church and the Buchanan Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) churches are raising the needed $3,200 to assemble meals for 12,000+ people. Baked food items may be brought to BPC’s fellowship hall on Thursday, June 14 from 4-7 p.m. or to the bake sale on June 15.
