The Virginia State Police reported a 58-year-old Tennessee woman died in a Monday wreck on I-81 at the 150 milemarker.
According to the report, the crash occurred at 11:57 a.m. in the southbound lane and involved an SUV and a tractor-trailer.
According to a State Police report, a 1999 Toyota 4Runner driven by Stephen Flick of Clinton, Tenn. was merging onto Interstate 81 from the southbound entrance ramp at Exit 150 when the 4Runner swerved, lost control and was struck by a 2016 tractor-trailer.
Flick was injured and was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The passenger, Beth A. Flick, also of Clinton, Tenn., was injured and was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where she later died. She was wearing a seatbelt.
The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team assisted with the crash that remains under investigation.
