Football practice for Lord Botetourt and James River High Schools will begin this week as both teams prepare for their August 24 openers.
LB will start two-a-days on Thursday of this week, with practices running from 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The two-a-days will run through July 31 with this Sunday being the only day off.
The Cavaliers will first scrimmage on August 11 at E.C. Glass in Lynchburg against the host Hilltoppers and Dinwiddie. LB will scrimmage Thomas Dale at Hampden-Sydney College on August 17, then open August 24 at Harrisonburg.
James River will open camp next Monday evening, July 30, going from 4-9 p.m. for two-a-days. The Knights will scrimmage twice at home, against Rockbridge County on August 10 and against Auburn, in a benefit game, on August 17. River will open at home against Chatham on August 24.
