Fincastle United Methodist Homecoming September 30
Fincastle United Methodist Church will celebrate Homecoming Sunday on September 30 with one combined worship service at 11 a.m. and a luncheon in the Family Life Center following worship.
The Rev. Doug Paysour, a former pastor, will preach during the Homecoming service this year. Paysour served FUMC as Pastor from 2001 to 2011 and is currently Lead Pastor at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church in Roanoke.
The Fun and Fellowship team will prepare a meal for the luncheon that includes pork barbecue, baked chicken in cream sauce, slaw, macaroni and cheese, deviled eggs and desserts.
All are invited.
Lithia Baptist to celebrate 170 years
Lithia Baptist Church will hold its 170th anniversary celebration on Sunday, Sept. 30.
The day begins at 10:30 a.m. with special music by Joe Overfelt. The 11 a.m. celebration service will be led by David Barham, a former pastor. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall at 12:30 p.m., followed by a concert with special musical guests at 2 p.m. Cake and ice cream will be served at 3 p.m.

Mt. Carmel Church will have Homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 23. Lunch will follow the 11 a.m. service. All are welcome. No Sunday School that day.
Valley View celebrating 51st anniversary
Valley View Baptist Church will celebrate its 51st anniversary on September 23. Pastor Daniel Boone will bring the message for the 11 a.m. service. The service will be followed by a potluck lunch. Former members, neighbors and friends are invited to attend and enjoy the fellowship. Nursery will be provided. There will be no night service
Virginia Presbyterian celebrating 100 years
The public is invited to Virginia Presbyterian Church on Sunday, September 30, to help celebrate the church’s 100th anniversary. The celebration will include an 11 a.m. worship and a luncheon. Food and beverages will be provided by church members. “Our time of celebration will be enriched by your presence with us,” a church spokesman said. “We would not be celebrating 100 years without the faithfulness of so many people.”
Ebenezer UMC ‘Hobo Stew’
Ebenezer United Methodist Church will have its annual “Hobo Stew” event on Saturday, Sept. 29, beginning at 5 p.m. Inspirational speaker Penny Donaldson will be a guest. The church is on Nace Road, Troutville, just off Lee Highway.

The Thrift Shop has a great selection of lightweight fall clothes for women, men, children and infants. It also has capris and short sleeve shirts for those hot September days. The shop is open each Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Spaghetti dinner at St. Mark’s
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will hold its 23rd Annual Italian Night Spaghetti Dinner at the Fincastle Firehouse on Saturday, September 29, from 4 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. The Italian Night theme will be portrayed in table and wall decorations. The meal cost is $10 for adults and children over 12 years old. There is no charge for children under 12 years of age. The meal includes a full portion of homemade spaghetti, salad, garlic bread sticks, lemonade, ice tea, and a variety of homemade desserts. Meals will be available for take-out.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Ministry Center office at 221 S. Roanoke Street in Fincastle and from church members or may be purchased at the door. Proceeds from the event go to outreach ministries in the local Fincastle and Botetourt County area. The event, which is put on by the Episcopal Men’s Fellowship of St. Mark’s, brings together a large part of the local Fincastle and surrounding community. Colonial Baptist Fall Festival
Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge invites everyone to its annual Community Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 3:30-7 p.m.
All events and food are free. There will be hayrides, horse rides, live music, Moonwalk, American Ninja Warrior Course, balloon sculptures, photo booth, face painting, snow cones and more.
There are free dinner shows at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs.

Church of the Transfiguration Festival
Church of The Transfiguration invites everyone to a free Fall Family Festival September 30 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Hot dogs, chili, fixin’s and more will be provided with games for everyone from wee ones to adults. Floyd Ward dancers will perform. Additional parking will be available at Attic Productions. There will also be a bake sale to benefit the Backpack Ministry. All are welcome. The church is located on US 220 just south of Fincastle.
Blessing of the Animals October 6
Whether your furry companion is a dog, cat, horse, hamster, or even a favorite stuffed animal, they are welcome at Church of the Transfiguration for a Blessing of Animals on Saturday, Oct. 6 celebrating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
The congregation will gather at the picnic ahelter for the blessing at 9 a.m. Animals should be under control to ensure everyone goes home happy. Stuffed animals do not need to be on a leash. Feel free to bring a picture of your pet if you wish.

Christmas Craft Bazaar in Cloverdale
A few spaces are still available for craft vendors at the Cloverdale Church of the Brethren 30th Annual Christmas Bazaar. It will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The cost is $20 for an eight-foot table. For more information, call Marjorie Snider, 992-5132.
