It was just over one year ago that the YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge broke ground on the new Botetourt Family YMCA, and in just a few short months, the doors will officially open. To date, the 45,000-square-foot building is on track to have a New Year’s Day opening.
“The gymnasium and elevated track are taking shape, the pools have been poured, tile work, painting, and many other finishing touches are making huge strides every day,” said President and CEO Mark Johnson.
“Most importantly, plans are under way for the many programs that will make a difference in the Botetourt community,” said Johnson.
The Botetourt Family YMCA has already hired key full-time staff. They are actively training and hiring instructors for wellness programs, swim lessons, active older adult luncheons, preschool winter basketball, and even summer camp.
“The closer we get to officially being open the more excited I get,” said Tricia Reynolds, executive director of the Botetourt Family YMCA. “This is where we get to show Botetourt the true work of the YMCA – programs that will transform lives and impact the community for generations to come,” she said.
Opportunities to join the Botetourt Family YMCA will begin on November 1 starting with its Founders’ Club.
“The Founders’ Club is a great way for community members to be a part of the history of the Botetourt Family YMCA. They will receive one-year of membership, a Founder’s Club T-shirt, recognition inside the building, and invite to a VIP Founders’ Club event,” Reynolds said.
YMCA membership representatives will have limited hours at Bank of Botetourt in the Daleville Town Center for community members to join the Founders’ Club in person from November 5 until December 31. General memberships will be available starting on Black Friday, November 23.
Founder’s Club is $1,000 for an individual and $1,300 for a household, with payment due at the time of purchase.
Regular membership prices are in the accompanying chart.
“We are forever grateful to Bank of Botetourt for partnering with us to allow membership representatives to meet with community members so they can sign-up for a YMCA membership, meet our staff, and learn more about the Y,” said Reynolds.
