Even though winter has yet to officially arrive, areas of Botetourt County received anywhere from 10 to 20 inches of snow over the Sunday storm. With the snow and single-digit temperatures Monday night, Botetourt County Public Schools were closed Monday and Tuesday. The unusual amount of snow for early December prompted the county offices to be closed Monday, too. Here, the snow covers the base of the Confederate monument and cannons in the courtyard in front of the Botetourt County Circuit Clerk’s office.
