Franklin County’s tennis teams swept Lord Botetourt on Monday in non-district action, both by scores of 6-3. The boys lost in Rocky Mount and the girls lost at home at Hollins University.
Rachel Williams won in singles for the girls, and LB took two of three doubles with the teams of Leah Germain and Jordan Coffey along with Allison Coombe and Jessica Lancenese.
With the loss the girls dropped to 5-2 overall. They’re still unbeaten in the Blue Ridge District at 3-0 after shutting out Fleming last week, 9-0.
The boys are 2-6 overall and 2-1 in the district, also taking a 9-0 win over Fleming last week. They were scheduled to host Christiansburg in a non-district match at Hollins on Tuesday.
The girls are back in action today, hosting Glenvar at 4 p.m. at Hollins. On Thursday both teams play William Byrd, with the girls in Vinton and the boys at Hollins. Then, on Friday, the girls are at Northside and the boys play the Vikings on the Hollins courts.
