Lord Botetourt’s Rachel Williams advanced to the Region 3D finals in tennis in singles last week on the Virginia Tech courts in Blacksburg.
Rachel was 18-0 before losing in the final to Anna Campbell of Abingdon, 6-0, 6-1. She made the championship with wins over Madison Wright of Patrick County, 6-0, 6-0, and Olivia Honaker of Hidden Valley, 6-1, 6-1. In addition to being the region runner-up she is also the Blue Ridge District girls’ Player of the Year.
In the boys’ competition Tucker Grimshaw lost his opening round match to Lance Beheler of Cave Spring, 6-2, 6-2. That was also at Tech.
