Northside High is the site of the Region 3D soccer tournament this week, and at press time the Lord Botetourt girls were still alive. LB was scheduled to play Staunton River on Tuesday night in the region semifinal.
Tuesday’s game was big, because the winner clinched a spot in the Class 3 state tournament next week. The other semifinal had Hidden Valley playing Magna Vista, and the two winners meet Friday at Northside at 6 p.m. for the regional championship.
Botetourt improved to 17-2 on the season with an 8-0 thumping of Alleghany in the regional opener in Daleville last week. Mary-Randall Plunkett, Briana Myers and Ally Spangler had two goals each for the Cavaliers, while Cadence Peters and Ava Brumfield had one each. Plunkett also had two assists.
