Barbara “Jeanie” Deisher Hipes, 76, of Eagle Rock, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 after a courageous battle with dementia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W. Fay and Mary Deisher; and husband of 43 years, Jay Hugh Hipes Sr. in 2015.
She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Being faithful to her Lord, she was active in her church throughout her life serving in numerous capacities. She retired from the Botetourt County School System with over 20 years of service.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Jay, Jr. and Elizabeth Hipes, Mark and Peyton Hipes; grandchildren, Jay, III “Trey,” Charlotte, Esther, and Virginia Hipes.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, in Longdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Marsh officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home.
