With the end of spring high school sports the Virginia High School League has announced all-state teams in all classifications. Lord Botetourt and James River were well represented.

Lord Botetourt competes in Class 3 in the VHSL, and the Cavaliers had seven athletes named to either the first or second all-state teams.

LB put five on the all-state boys soccer team, including two on the first team. Senior Zach Durham was chosen first team at forward and senior Nathan Rich is a first teamer on defense.

Three more Cavaliers are on the second team, all seniors. Trey Rice was named at forward, Kyle Wood at midfield and Collin Ewers in the goal.

In girls soccer LB’s Briana Myers was named to the first team at midfield. Briana was just a sophomore.

LB also had one selection in baseball. Junior Brae Farrell was named to the second team as an outfielder.

James River competes in Class 2, and the Knights also had seven all-state selections on either the first or second team. Five girls were named to the soccer team and two were named for softball.

Senior goalkeeper Colleen Peery repeated on the all-state team and Morgan Bryan, also a senior, was a first teamer on defense. Second team honors went to Megan Hill at forward and Kyla Myers and Rachel Hix on the midfield. Hill and Hix are seniors while Myers was just a freshman.

River’s Cameron Hildebrand, a senior, was named to the all-state first team in softball in the outfield. Lacey Lucado, a sophomore, was named to the second team at shortstop.
