The annual Historic Fincastle Festival, offering a full day of fun and entertainment and extending into the night, is this Saturday, Sept. 21.

Music will be provided throughout the day, and “7 Mile Ford” will perform at the “Fired Up” event that night. A variety of festival food will be available including, Heritage Market BBQ, Pie Lady Pies and other “goodies” at the Fincastle Café, burgers, fried pickles, fried Oreos, kettle corn, Pig Poppers pork skins, funnel cakes, a lemonade stand, and ice cream.  Either before or after “chowing down,” visitors will be kept busy checking out a wide range of craft vendors, many of the area’s fine artists and their works, a quilt show, an antique car display, a “Touch a Truck” area for the young and young at heart, and loads of history and memorabilia and fun.

The Botetourt County Museum will be open all day with the Lewis & Clark special display along with the rest of the remarkable treasures housed in the museum.  Don’t miss the book sale and displays at the Fincastle Library along with the “Music on the Porch” entertainment going on there all day long. There will also be special things planned for the young people including some Pokemon fun, a chance to play with toys which our 18th century ancestors would have enjoyed, a scavenger hunt throughout parts of the Festival, a youth art show to visit, and other “fun” as well.

The festival starts at 9 a. m. and continues until 4 p. m., all in downtown Fincastle and is available at no charge.  From 4 p. m. until 9 p. m. “Fired Up” will be held at the local fire station on US 220, offering music, the firemen’s famous BBQ chicken dinners, beer and other beverages along with activities and entertainment for young people.  This event is presented by the Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department and Big Lick Entertainment in partnership with the Town of Fincastle and HFI.  The evening’s music will be provided by 7 Mile Ford and tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the Festival or at the gate.

The map displayed should help folks plan their day and get an idea of parking options.  A major parking area will be managed by the Fincastle Fire Department across from the Festival on the firehouse grounds.

Sponsors of the Festival include the major sponsor, The Bank of Fincastle, and other sponsors: APX, MW Dunbar Construction, Freedom First Credit Union, Heritage Family Market, LUMOS, MKB Realtors, Oakey’s, Snap-On and Woodsdale Events.

“Fired Up” is sponsored by Bank of Botetourt, with other sponsors: Cardinal Rubber, Bryant Orchards, Prestige Lawn & Landscaping and Re-Max.
