The Catawba Valley Farmers Market (CVFM) is having a special Senior Citizens Day on Thursday, Oct. 3, to show appreciation for the many seniors who regularly visit the market. Representatives from local agencies and businesses will be on hand to provide information of particular interest to seniors. These include Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Commonwealth Home Health Care, Local Office on Aging, Linda Walker–Insurance Representative, and Our Health Magazine.

A free meal of cornbread and pinto beans will be offered to all visitors. This will be served only between 3:30 and 6 p.m.  Free bottled water is furnished to all visitors.

All senior activities and the meal will be inside the Community Center, in air-conditioned comfort.

As usual, the Farmers Market vendors will have a wide variety of fresh local produce, fruits, meats, baked goods and handicrafts.  Vendors will also offer an extensive selection of fall decorating items, including mums, pansies, miniature gourds and pumpkins, hand-painted signs, etc.

Mack Belcher of Dublin will perform traditional country music as well as ’60s & ’70s folk, classic rock, gospel and bluegrass.

The Catawba Valley Farmers Market is located at 4965 Catawba Creek Road (Rt. 779), Catawba. The Market is open on Thursdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., rain or shine.  This is a Roanoke County park site, with covered picnic shelter, playground and restrooms.  The site is handicap accessible.  More information on the Farmers Market may be found on the website (catawbafarmersmarket.com) and on Facebook.  The last market day for 2019 will be October 17.
