February 17-21 is the Virginia School Board Association’s School Board Clerk Appreciation Week. LuAnn Delosreyes has served as clerk of the Botetourt County School Board since July of 2019, replacing Betty Holland.

The School Board recognized Delosreyes for the work that she does at its meeting last Thursday night.

“I think it’s a great honor,” Delosreyes said of the week. “I feel honored to be a part of the school division here.”

Originally from North Carolina, Delosreyes moved to Suffolk in 2003. She relocated to Botetourt County last year because her husband, who is an attorney, gained employment in Salem.

Prior to moving to Botetourt, she worked as a clerk for Isle of Wight County Public Schools and as a backup for Suffolk Public Schools.

“I love working in the school system,” she said. “This position was a good fit.”

“She truly is the best,” Dr. Lisa Chen, superintendent of Botetourt County Public Schools, said.

Delosreyes said that her jobs requires her to assist Dr. Chen by screening her calls, serving as a liaison between school administrators, processing purchase orders, creating School Board agendas, and notifying local media of events

“I appreciate the staff here at Botetourt County Public Schools for their support they’ve given me to get me going. I look forward to serving the staff, students, parents, and members of the community for many years to come,” she said.
