The Botetourt County School Board voted last Thursday to name Dr. Lisa Taylor the new principal of James River High School.

Taylor, who has served as assistant principal of the school, will assume her new role on July 1. She will be the first female principal of the school. Currently, Jamie Talbott serves as principal.

A graduate of James River High School, Taylor has taught science in Virginia and North Carolina. Later, she transitioned into administration, serving two years as an assistant principal and one year as a principal in North Carolina.

“I am excited for the opportunity to continue working with our students, staff, and community.  I look forward to cultivating our culture of care with the James River Family in the coming years,” Taylor said.
