Robert J. “Bobby” Berkstresser has retired from the Bank of Botetourt Board of Directors. He served on the board of Bank of Botetourt since 2011.

Berkstresser is president of Vesuvius Inc., a privately held company whose principal operations are Lee-Hi Travel Plaza and White’s Travel Center, located in Lexington and Raphine, respectively. He is a past chairman of the National Association of Truck Stop Operators, which represents truck stops and travel centers across the United States. He is a previous member of the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors and is active in local political matters, having previously served as chairman of one of the political parties in Rockbridge County, Buena Vista and Lexington. He is currently serving on the Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital Board in Lexington. Berkstresser has also served as chairman for the Rockbridge Area Leadership Scholarships, the Rockbridge United Way and Rockbridge Area YMCA. He is a graduate of Danville Community College.

“Bobby’s many years of business experience, leadership and executive management, as well as an intimate knowledge of the Rockbridge area market, provided insight and expertise to our board,” said Bank President and CEO G. Lyn Hayth III. “His unique perspective was highly valued, and we thank him sincerely for his years of dedicated leadership and service to our Board of Directors.”

Bank of Botetourt was chartered in 1899 and currently operates 12 retail offices in the Botetourt, Rockbridge, Roanoke, and Franklin counties and the City of Salem, and operates a mortgage division, Virginia Mountain Mortgage, along with a financial services division, Botetourt Wealth Management.
