Bank of Botetourt has announced the recipients of its 4th Annual “Taking Care of You” Community Scholarship. This scholarship opportunity was available to high school seniors and existing college students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher who currently utilize Bank of Botetourt for their banking needs. Applicants wrote a two-page essay exploring how Bank of Botetourt has been able to take care of their banking and financial needs.”
Abbagail Link is the first place recipient. A graduate from James River High School, she plans to obtain her associate degree in engineering, specializing in computer science, at Virginia Western Community College before transferring to Virginia Tech for a bachelor’s degree in computer science, so that she may pursue the career of a web developer.
The second place recipient, Jenna Layman, is a graduate of Franklin County High School and will be attending Radford University Carilion in the fall, having been accepted into its Bachelor of Science Nursing Program. After graduating, she hopes to attend either James Madison University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, or Duke to further her education and obtain a nurse practitioner degree.
The third place recipient is Robert Pinello from Salem High School, who plans to continue his academic career at Hampden Sydney College in Farmville.
All three scholarship recipients will receive money to go towards their academic future. First place will receive $500, with second and third receiving $250 each. Bank of Botetourt will be offering this scholarship in the future and encourages interested applicants to apply in early 2021.
