The Glebe awards $3,000 in college scholarships

The Glebe Retirement Community and its Residents’ Council have announced the 2020 scholarship recipients. A total of $3,000 was awarded to three deserving individuals. Two scholarships are funded by the Residents’ Council and one by The Glebe.

The fund provides financial assistance for deserving team members to obtain higher education, as well as updated training and specialized skillsets.

The recipients are Landen Horton, Brycen Ford and Hannah Duke.

Landen graduated from James River High School in 2017. Landon is the grandson of a Glebe employee. He is expecting to graduate from Longwood College in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. His goals after graduation are to pass licensure exam and to work in intensive care unit. The $1,000 scholarship to help with senior books.

Brycen graduated from James River High School in 2018. He is an employee at The Glebe.

He has finished his work at Virginia Western Community College and is now enrolled at Virginia Tech. Brycen will be majoring in business information technology with a specialization in cybersecurity management. He plans on getting his Master of Business Administration through Virginia Tech’s accelerated program. The $1,000 scholarship will help with tuition.

Hannah graduated from Lord Botetourt High School in 2020.

She is member of the National Honor Society, enjoys art, hiking and swimming.

Hannah will be enrolled at Virginia Western Community College this fall and wants to become a dental hygienist. The $1,000 grant will help with tuition and expenses.
