P. Stephen Vaughn was honored by the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors on July 28 for his 12 years of service on the Botetourt County Board of Zoning Appeals.

Vaughn served on the board from April 1, 2008 until January 6, 2020.

“Mr. Vaughn has provided insight to the Board of Zoning Appeals’ decisions, while applying the policies and practices of planning law, and his knowledge and experience will be greatly missed,” the proclamation honoring him read. “Mr. Vaughn has greatly contributed to his community in many capacities through his talents and energy, in addition to serving on the Board of Zoning Appeals, which has assisted Botetourt County as it continues to experience periods of change and growth.”

The Board of Zoning Appeals is tasked with considering variances and landowner appeals of zoning decisions made by the director of community development.

“Mr. Vaughn has demonstrated uncommon devotion to Botetourt County and its people and his passion and sincere dedication to continue community service will take a new shape with his recent appointment to the Botetourt County Electoral Board.”
