Fincastle Herald Team:
For a number of years, I have enjoyed reading the weekly newspaper. It is the only paper I now receive. I have always viewed your paper to be non-bias and non-partisan, until now. While I certainly expect views and opinion to be expressed from time to time, the Sports Section is
no place to express these views.
In the September 9 edition, Brian Hoffman (Sports Editor), posts a rather good article. I, too, miss sports as Mr. Hoffman expresses. High school football has always been an enjoyable Friday evening pastime. The article expressed a good number of sentiments we share with one glaring exception, the last short paragraph. Regardless of anyone’s political affiliation, the Sports section should report one thing and one thing only, sports. I see no reason for the last paragraph stating, “He wouldn’t lie to us, would he?” We get enough disrespect toward our president in the daily news, which I no longer watch either. This comment is completely out of line with the intent of the column, serves absolutely no purpose and an insult to your readers.
Like all other media services I have engaged in the past, I will not be renewing my subscription to The Fincastle Herald after my paid service expires.
Sincerely,
John Sebestin
