Buchanan has three candidates – James Manspile, Chris Petty, and Wallace “Wally” Mutterspaugh – running for two seats on Town Council. A Meet the Candidates event is being held at the Buchanan Theatre Oct. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. Mayor Craig Bryant, who is running unopposed, will be moderating the event. The public is invited to attend (in person or over the phone) in order to get to know the candidates for the Nov. 3 election. There is a meet-and-greet portion for the public to ask questions to candidates.
Town Manager Jason Tyree will serve as timekeeper and assist the moderator as needed. The agenda will be:
6 p.m.: Meet and greet
6:30 p.m.: Speeches begin (5 minutes per candidate)
6:45 p.m.: First question (5 minutes per candidate to answer the question)
7 p.m.: Second question (5 minutes per candidate to answer the question)
7:30 p.m.: Final meet and greet with citizens
Each candidate is asked to give a short speech on who they are, why they are running, and what they want to accomplish. Bryant will ask two questions to each candidate.
Due to COVID-19 the town will have a call-in option for the public (call-in option: 701-802-5423, Access Code: 3474425). For anyone attending in person, officials are asking that masks are worn during the forum. Anyone with question can call the Town Hall at 254-1212.
