The Botetourt County Historical Society and Museum 2021 calendar is now available.
This year’s calendar features full color photos of historic log cabins and homes throughout the county, as well as a watercolor image on the cover by Connie Marsh. The calendars are $12 and are available at the museum in Fincastle as well as the Ikenberry Orchards store in Daleville. Proceeds from the calendars help support the Botetourt County Historical Society and Museum.
The Museum is also selling ornaments that feature the museum – part of the historic Western Hotel complex built in the 1880s – in three-dimensional gold. The ornaments are for sale at the museum for $17 each.
As part of the 250th anniversary celebration, the Botetourt County Historical Society commissioned a new book that details the history of Botetourt County. Ed McCoy, retired editor of The Fincastle Herald, tells the story of Botetourt’s earliest years through to more modern times with cover art by local artist Mark Woodie. Each paperback copy is signed by the author and is $10.
Another local artist, Brooke Ludy, has created a whimsical print of Botetourt landmarks as part of the Sestercentennial. Each print measures 16×13 and is $10, available at the museum.
An additional commemorative item is the 250th Cat’s Meow piece. This special item highlights communities all through Botetourt County, including Blue Ridge, Oriskany, Eagle Rock, Troutville, Buchanan and more.
A new exhibit features antique chocolate molds. The molds are on loan from an anonymous lender and will be on display until early 2021.
The Botetourt County Historical Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information, call 473-8394 or email botetourtcomuseum@gmail.com.
