The Lord Botetourt golfers continued to dominate in Blue Ridge District play as they won the second round of mini-matches at the Blue Hills Golf Course last week. The Cavaliers now lead second place Franklin County by 48 strokes after 26 holes.
After getting in 17 holes in the first match at Westlake, the BRD golfers scored in just nine holes last week before darkness set in. Botetourt managed a score of 147, followed by Northside’s 164, 166 by Franklin County, 175 by host William Byrd and 204 by Staunton River.
Once again LB’s Samir Davidov had the low score of the day at one-under-par 34. Botetourt’s Ashton Harper tied Franklin’s Cutter Harvey for second at 36 and LB’s Kaitlyn Mosdell was fourth at 37. Botetourt fourth score came from Jake Koffman, who tied for seventh with a 40. Dylan Salvi shot a solid 43 for ninth on the day but only the top four count in the team scoring. Trey Sharp tied for 17th with 49.
“We were disappointed to only play nine holes, as our kids really enjoy playing and walking at Blue Hills,” said LB coach Todd Smith. “But, overall, we were satisfied with our scores. A 147 for nine holes is pretty tough. We have to keep pushing ourselves and continue to get better.”
Today, LB has a non-district match at the Lexington Country Club against Rockbridge.
