Mary Stinnett Bosserman died peacefully on April 1, 2021. She was 92 years young.

Mary was a lady like no other. Although she never had any children of her own, she helped her Mother and Father raise her nephew Conley Booth and she treated his son Kevin Booth like a grandson. Mary and her husband Clarence made their home in Covington; however, they also spent time on their small farm in Eagle Rock. Mary knew Jesus Christ, so we know that she is rejoicing in Heaven now.

Mary was a member of the VFW Post 1033, The Red Hat Club, the Fincastle Garden Club, the Eagle Rock Garden Club and the Covington Women of Moose Lodge 610. She played a big part in the Blue Star Memorial being added on Rt. 43 in Eagle Rock. Mary worked for many years as the deputy clerk of Alleghany County in Covington. Mary loved attending any type of event, whether it be a fish fry, a potluck or a church dinner and she always turned heads with her style. She enjoyed traveling the world with her nieces over the years. Mary was a graduate of Eagle Rock High School. Mary left this earth to join her parents, Walter and Virginia Stinnett; her husband, Clarence Bosserman; her siblings, Betty Peery, Benny Stinnett, Lewis Stinnett, Catherine Vassar, Minnie Mazmanian, Joe Stinnett, and Guy Stinnett; and her nephews, Conley Booth, David Vassar and Steve Peery, who all preceded her in death.

She leaves behind her nieces, Shirley Mullins, Patsy Powell, Virginia (Sister) Dooley, Patty Ann Fariss and Debbie Mazmanian, Maude Campbell, Sue Dobbins, Martha Gillispie, Sylvia Mason, Angelia Bryant, and Sue Hayslett; her nephews, Brian (Petey) Vassar, Charles (Brother) Vassar, Walter (Boopie) Vassar and Phillip Peery, Jack Mazmanian, George Mazmanian, Tommy Stinnett, and Robert Stinnett; and many great-nieces and -nephews and several wonderful friends.

A special thank you to Petey, Wanda, Terry and Shirley for helping Mary until she made her final journey home.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Eagle Rock Baptist Church’s Cemetery Fund in Mary’s name. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington.
