Yard sale, barbecue, gospel music Saturday at Limestone Park

Limestone Park Ministries will have a day of fundraising and music on Saturday, April 24, at the park, 18191 Lee Highway, Buchanan.

A yard sale will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Beef barbecue dinners, with two barbecue sandwiches, slaw, baked beans, drink and dessert, will be available from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 and you can reserve tickets by calling 254-2033.

The day will end with an Ol’ Time Gospel Music Revival from 3 to 7 p.m. This is a free, drive-in event and will feature the Trinity Tree Bluegrass Band and the Route 11 Quartet.

 

Baptist youth car wash, bake sale Saturday

Buchanan Baptist Church’s Nicaragua Mission Trip Team is having a fundraiser for an upcoming mission trip on Saturday, April 24 at the car wash next to Dollar General in Buchanan from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There will also be a bake sale in addition to the car wash. The youth are asking for donations only.

 

Hot dog, barbecue meals May 1 at Ebenezer UMC

Ebenezer United Methodist Church is selling hot dog and barbecue meals on Saturday, May 1 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.  The meals will consist of two hot dogs or pork barbecue and slaw, baked beans and a soda. Hot dog meals are $7 and the barbecue will be $8. The meals will be at the church. Someone will come to the vehicles in the parking lot to take the orders and bring the food back to the vehicle.

 

Mother’s Day ‘Tea To-Go’ benefit

How would you like to enjoy a traditional English “High Tea” in the safety of your own home for a special Mother’s Day experience and, at the same time, help feed hungry people?  The T.A.M.E. (That All May Eat) Ministry at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville is sponsoring a gourmet Mother’s Day Tea To-Go on Saturday, May 8. Proceeds from sales support projects to help the food-insecure in the community and the world. Deadline for ordering is Tuesday, May 4.

Each tea box will contain two savory sandwiches, a chicken salad croissant, a white chocolate raspberry scone with Devonshire cream, two sweet treats, and an assortment of teabags. To place an order, go on the church website at www.stmarksmethodist.com or call the church office at 992-3030.

You will pay for your tea boxes at the time of pick up. The cost is as follows: one box, $20; two boxes, $36; three boxes, $48; or four boxes for $60. If you get more than four boxes, the cost continues to go down per box.

Pick up the order at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, located at 19 Cedar Ridge Drive in Daleville (across US 220 from Kroger), on Saturday, May 8 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Drive up and a TAME representative will put the tea boxes in your car for you with no contact.

Upcoming trips planned by Joyful Journey Travel Club

The Joyful Journey Travel Club of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville invites you to join them on their trips for this year. Contact Julia Greer at 540-330-7933 for more information and registration forms.

  • Ohio’s Amish Country, June 16-18 (three days, two nights); $415 per person, double; $554 single.

Includes two nights lodging, two breakfasts, two dinners (including a traditional family style dinner), live theatrical production at the Ohio Star Theater, musical comedy variety show at the Amish Country Theater, Lehman’s General Store & Old Fashioned Hardware, Yoder’s Amish Home tour,  schoolhouse and buggy ride, Warther Museum & Gardens, Coblentz Chocolates, luggage handling, taxes and meal gratuities, motorcoach transportation, and driver’s tip. Registration and final payment due by Wednesday, May 5.

  • Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, September 21-24 (four days, three nights); $549 per person, double; $748, single. Includes three nights lodging, three breakfasts, three dinners; four shows: Country Tonite Theater,  Smoky Mountain Opry, Charlie Bob Smith Morning Variety Show, and Hatfields & McCoys Feud; Titanic Museum, Smoky Mountain Tour, visit to Alcatraz East Crime Museum, The Island, free time in downtown Gatlinburg, luggage handling, taxes and meal gratuities, motorcoach transportation and driver’s tip.

Payment for trips is to be made out to the Joyful Journey Travel Club and mailed to Julia Greer, St. Mark’s UMC, 19 Cedar Ridge Drive, Daleville, 24083. A $25 non-refundable (unless the trip is cancelled) deposit is due with the registration form to hold your spot on the trip. The $25 is part of the total cost. Everyone is welcome on the trips.

 

Donations needed for Mt. Bethel Cemetery upkeep

Donations are being accepted for the upkeep of the Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The cemetery is located on Rt. 43 (Narrow Passage Road) near Eagle Rock. Mail donations to Etta Alexander P.O. Box 5, Eagle Rock, 24085.
