The first spring sports action of the season is scheduled for today when the Lord Botetourt girls tennis team travels to Vinton for a match with William Byrd. The Cavalier boys have a tennis match at Staunton River Friday and next week the flood gates open for LB and James River sports. The LB boys and girls tennis teams are at Franklin County.
On Monday, April 26, the James River baseball team opens with a 5 p.m. game at Glenvar. The Knights will host the Highlanders in a 5:30 p.m. varsity softball game in Springwood and the River boys soccer team is at Glenvar.
A week from today, on April 28, the River track team is at Glenvar for a meet while the softball team heads to Alleghany. Lord Botetourt’s track team opens with a meet at Staunton River, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The LB softball team will host James River on Thursday, April 29, and the Knights will have a home soccer doubleheader with Alleghany, beginning with the girls at 5:30 p.m. The Lord Botetourt baseball team won’t open until April 30, at Alleghany, and the Cavalier soccer teams won’t kick off until May 7.
Of course, due to the coronavirus pandemic, protocols are in place and all events are subject to change on short notice.
