The James River boys finished third in the Region 2C cross country meet last week at the Jackson River Sports Complex in Covington. Unfortunately for River, only the top two teams advance to the state this season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Alleghany boys and Radford girls won Region 2C championships and also qualifying for state were the Radford boys and Alleghany girls, who both took second. James River did not have enough runners for a girls team.

Isaac Bell of James River was named All-Region in the boys race with a 15th place finish in a time of 19:31. The winning time was 16:39 by William Hartig of Radford. Carly Wilkes of Glenvar won the girls race with a time of 18:01, winning by over two minutes.
