Last Tuesday, the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors recognized Debbie Firebaugh for her years of service to the county.

Firebaugh started working for Botetourt County over 33 years ago. In the late 1980s, Firebaugh began her work in the county’s administrative offices, moving over to filling roles in the Building Department and the Treasurer’s Office.

Since 1994, Firebaugh’s worked within the Commissioner of Revenue’s office. Botetourt County Commissioner of Revenue Chris Booth, who helped present Firebaugh her award of recognition, mentioned Firebaugh being a leader and a familiar face to many Botetourt County residents over her 30+ years of service to the community.

“I think she’s done a lot to help out along the way,” Booth stated. “Thirty-three years is a long time to serve Botetourt County, but she’s retiring. We’re going to miss her here.”

Board Chairman Mac Scothorn thanked Firebaugh for her service and presented her with her award.

“It’s been a great ride,” Firebaugh said. “Thank you all.”
