This week, Botetourt County’s graduating seniors say farewell to their high school classrooms, classmates, and educators as they prepare to take their next steps.

Both high schools held their separate award ceremonies for graduates outdoors last week. Both events welcomed the fantastic weather as the sun shined down on those students who accomplished a great deal in their high school careers to earn graduating honors.

Some seniors decorated their caps to display their creative abilities and to send good-bye messages to their classmates. There were smiles on all faces as these graduating students reached the light at the end of a long tunnel interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lord Botetourt High School’s graduation ceremony took place Monday at 7 p.m. at Salem Stadium in Salem.
James River High School’s graduation ceremony took place on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. on the football field.
