Charles Robert Fridley

Charles Robert “Bobby” Fridley died peacefully on October 14, 2021 surrounded by his family.

A long-time member and officer of his church, his life revolved around faith, family, friends and sports.  An accomplished athlete in his own right, he was a diehard UVA sports fan. He rarely missed a home or away UVA football game and was always accompanied by his loving wife and best friend, Peggy, of 65 years by his side.

His core belief of faith and giving back to the community and others in need is a trait that has been passed on to his sons, Mike, Lynn and Perry as well as his grandchildren, Wendi, Kiani, Anna, Jack and Sean. A legacy that will live on for many years to come. He is also survived by three daughters-in-law, Pam, Lana, and Colleen, a grandson-in-law, Stuart; and two great-grandchildren, Camden and Bryce. He would be proud of having his grandchildren serve as pallbearers.

Bobby enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. His favorite pastimes were sports and anything regarding his children and grandchildren. A perfect weekend for Bobby was watching his grandchildren in anything from football, basketball, soccer, softball, swimming, and a horse show and then bragging about them to his friends in church on Sunday. Laughter and a long-running joke were a cornerstone of Bobby. The family takes pride in all the people who just chuckled about being a part of an aforementioned joke or tall tale that went on for months and years. Indeed it was a life well lived, filled with family, fun and humor, yet he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2021 in Mill Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Quirin officiating. Interment followed in the Eagle Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 17, at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be made at www.botetourtfuneralhome.com.
