Last week at the Botetourt County Public Schools (BCPS) School Board meeting, the board handed out recognitions to BCPS staff and administration members.
Tammy Ogle, the school nurse at Buchanan Elementary School, was announced as September’s BCPS Employee of the Month. She’s worked at the school since January of 2020.
“Although her time here has been brief, her impact has been great,” Superintendent Dr. John Russ said. “Nurse Tammy is a kind, compassionate nurse. She brightens everyone’s day with her smile, and she goes out of her way to help students, parents, faculty, and staff of Buchanan Elementary.”
Russ mentioned that Ogle rarely takes credit for her work.
When the board congratulated Ogle on her recognition, she stated, “I’m part of a great team.”
The next Award of Recognition went to the transportation department. A short video produced by BCPS Communications Specialist Mike Moser showed BCPS staff members thanking the transportation department for all of their hard work over the past year.
Russ presented a Certification of Recognition for National School Bus Safety Week and School Bus Transportation Employees Appreciation Day to Director of Operations Andy Dewease and Operations Manager Kristoefer Clegg with the department’s award.
Lastly, Russ presented Chairman Anna Weddle with a VSBA Award of Excellence and Awards of Recognition to Buchanan School Board representative Michelle Austin and School Board Clerk LuAnn Delosreyes. All three qualified for their awards based on participating in seminars, webinars, conferences, and other forums attributed to school board training.
