The Botetourt County 4-H Horse & Pony Cloverbuds Club met in October for a Halloween party. The Cloverbuds had a scavenger hunt and some “scary” Halloween treats. Next, they gathered around for seed and feed identification. These seeds and feeds are what the horses and ponies eat. For the last activity, they had a costume parade ending with everyone receiving a goody bag.
On January 28, the Cloverbuds will have a meeting to prepare for the Horseless Horse show, a fun event for all the Cloverbuds. They will show their model horses in the same types of classes that are for real horses in a real horse show. In January they will make tack, create stable scenes, pick the model horses to put in the show, practice presenting the horses for the classes, and much more. On February 25, they will meet for the actual Horseless Horse Show.
Anyone who is 5 to 8 years old is invited to join the club. If you are interested in learning more about the Horse and Pony Cloverbuds Club or any other Botetourt County 4-H programs, contact Tyler Painter, 4-H Agent, at 473-8260.
