American Legion Post 240 donates gift bags to veterans
Members of the Executive Committee of American Legion Post 240 recently visited Cave Creek Assisted Living on Rt. 11 in Troutville. Twenty-five of the 35 residents are veterans from all branches of the US military.
Each veteran was presented a gift bag which contained deodorant, shaving cream, razor blades, tooth brushes, toothpaste, shampoo and denture cleaning tablets. Each veteran was also given a lap blanket that was made by the “Sassy Stitchers” in Buchanan.” Manager Sandy Cephas explained to the Executive Committee members that such items are always in demand. She further explained some of the activities offered to the residents include shopping trips to the local mall and bus trips to Pigeon Forge, Virginia Beach and the Amish Country in Pennsylvania. Local activities are also offered at the center.
