The Botetourt Kiwanis Club met on January 10 at Bellacino’s to discuss plans for the winter and spring of 2022. The club reviewed the success of its Thanksgiving and Christmas gift card project, in which the Kiwanians partnered with the Botetourt Food Pantry. Members also confirmed that the club will continue its scholarship program for Botetourt high school students.
Looking ahead, the Kiwanis Club will continue its partnerships with the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce and with the Daughters of the American Revolution. The DAR and Kiwanis collect food coupons to send to American service members stationed in Japan. Club President Keith McMurray also suggested taking part in a Habitat for Humanity build in Buchanan in May and in the Get Back into History Day in Fincastle. The next meeting of the Kiwanis Club will be on January 24, 7 p.m., at Bellacino’s. Meetings are also streamed on Zoom. For more information, contact Dr. Ed Lynch at elynch@hollins.edu.
