The county high school swim teams will be competing in regional championships this week at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. Lord Botetourt was scheduled to swim in the Region 3D meet on Tuesday and James River will swim in the Region 2C meet on Thursday.
Last week the Blue Ridge District swim meet was held at the Franklin County YMCA and the Lord Botetourt girls won the BRD championship. The boys finished third behind William Byrd and host Franklin County despite only having six swimmers competing. LB was second, behind Byrd, as a combined team.
Taking first place finishes for the LB girls were Layne Jones in the 200 Free and 100 Back, Emily Hanson in the 50 and 100 Free and Angelina Zeidan in the 100 Fly and 100 Breast. In the relays the girls team of Jones, Katie Cross, Hanson and Zeidan won both the 200 and 400 Free. The 200 Medley team of Taylor Liske, Anna Harris, Sidney Saunders and Sam Bishop took third.
Zeke Wolfe took a first for the boys in the 500 Free.
